The Village Voice today announced the initial line-up for its 4Knots Festival in July. Based in New York’s historic Southside Seaport for the second consecutive year, 4Knots will be headlined by Brooklyn’s own the Drums, aptly bringing their surf-tinged sounds to the nautical venue.
Featuring some of the oldest architecture in the city the Seaport is designed to transport its visitors back in time to the 19th Century, although that may be difficult with some of the best up and coming bands around playing the festival. Snappily titled Crocodiles from San Diego will be shaking the foundations with their blistering noise pop, reminiscent of Spacemen 3 and The Jesus and Mary Chain while former Mika Miko members (and siblings) Jessica and Jennifer Clavin will be in attendance with their current band Bleached. All garage guitars with Ramones riffs, Bleached are a bundle of punk fun reminiscent of the best CBGB alumni.
Jangly, up-beat indie-popsters Hospitality will be no doubt spreading the smiles with their feel good tunes and shimmering guitars. Last but certainly not least, Nick Waterman will be roaring his relentlessly retro sound and sticking out like an impeccably well dressed sore thumb (in the best possible way) among the indie rock roster with his ’60s style soul tunes.
More acts will be announced shortly.
