Last week Scott Weiland denied the announcement of the Stone Temple Pilot’s firing him and just brushed it off as a publicity stunt. After all, he did form the band, right? But now it looks like Weiland is hitting the stages with another band. The singer is currently in the middle of his “Purple at the Core” tour, which primarily features material from the Stone Temple Pilots’ first two releases. When Weiland hit the stage in Patchogue, New York, he premiered a group called Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts. The Wildabouts are a five-piece band which includes producer/audio engineer/keyboardist Doug Grean. Weiland’s set included songs like “Wicked Garden,” Big Empty,” “Interstate Love Song,” “Sex Type Thing,” David Bowie’s “The Green Genie” and the Doors’ “Roadhouse Blues.” Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts have shows scheduled through the end of March and will be hitting NYC’s Irving Plaza this Saturday, March 9.
