The Museum of New York City is holding an exhibit that looks at the city’s impact on the folk and Americana explosion of the late 1950s and early 1960s. Titled “Folk City: New York and The American Folk Music Revival,” the museum aims to get the exhibit up and running by 2014. In the meantime, the museum is hosting an all-star benefit concert to raise funds for the exhibit.
The full lineup for the benefit concert has yet to be announced, but the artists that have been currently announced should be more than enough to get people excited. John Wesley Harding will be hosting a show that includes performances by Lucy Kaplansky, Langhorne Slim, A.C. Newman, Peter Yarrow, Josh White Jr., David Hajdu, and Izzy Young.
The Folk City benefit concert will be held on June 20th at the New York Academy of Medicine (1216 Fifth Avenue at East 103rd Street) at 8:00 p.m. For more information and to purchase tickets, click here.
