The Pixies have hired former A Perfect Circle bassist Paz Lenchatin to play bass for the band for the remainder of 2013 into 2014. Lenchatin replaces former bassist Kim Shattuck, who in turn replaced original bassist Kim Deal.

“We are really looking forward to playing with [Paz] on these dates,” Pixies drummer David Lovering said in a statement. “Working with different bass players is a new thing for the band, but we’re having a fun time doing it.”

The announcement comes as the Pixies prep for a mammoth world tour that crosses through North America, South America, and Europe, including performances at Lollapalooza Brazil & Argentina as well as the Primavera Sound Festival in Spain. The band released their first collection of new songs, EP-1, earlier this year.
