Beady Eye–the band started by Liam Gallagher following the dissolution of Oasis–is no more. Gallagher and bandmate Andy Bell both confirmed the band’s breakup on Twitter this past weekend.
Beady Eye came about from Liam Gallagher’s attempts to keep Oasis alive after brother Noel Gallagher’s abrupt departure from the band in 2009. While Liam failed to keep Oasis around, he managed to get a new project going with former Oasis members Bell and Gem Archer. The group released two albums: Different Gear, Still Speeding in 2011 and BE in 2013.
Signs of trouble first appeared earlier this year, when Beady Eye were forced to cancel their appearance at Coachella due to “unforeseen circumstances.” That turned out to be the last thing heard from the band until their breakup announcement.
Interest in Beady Eye had been waning in recent months with Liam himself hinting at wanting to relaunch Oasis again. As the owner of the Oasis name, this is something Liam is well within his rights to do, but Noel has repeatedly expressed that he has no desire to reunite with his estranged brother.
