Great news, blues fans: Gary Clark, Jr. has just revealed that he has almost completed his next record. A follow up to the successful Blak and Blu, Clark Jr. claims that the album better encapsulates the live sound that he has gained notoriety for. He has become a big live draw, playing huge festivals as well as sold-out headlining shows.
Unfortunately, things have become a little more difficult for the bluesman since becoming a father. “I forgot what sleep’s like, but it’s cool,” he told Rolling Stone. The record features production from Mike Elizondo, known just as much for his work with Tegan and Sara as he is for 50 cent’s massively successful “In Da Club.” Elizondo will surely be adding his own unique twist to Clark Jr.’s sound, which will undoubtedly make this follow-up one that you won’t want to miss. He elaborated: “I’ve got a squad of guys that are helping me translate the visions and the sounds in my head and make it blast back out through the speakers, so it’s been good. I’ve just been hiding out in Texas. I had to bring it back home.”
Be sure to check out Gary Clark Jr.’s new record once more details are revealed. You can catch him around playing around the country this summer.
