Bettye LaVette is a force to be reckoned with. On the heels of a major year in 2012, when the R&B queen celebrated 50 years in the music industry with the release of both a new album, Thankful N’ Thoughtful, and an autobiography, A Woman Like Me, she’s still going strong, continuing to tour in support of her 2015 album, Worthy.
This January, as part of the annual Association of Performing Arts Presenters (APAP), LaVette graced the City Winery stage in New York City, alongside a talented host of friends, including Catherine Russell, Davina and the Vagabonds and Jack Broadbent for a showcase by the Kurland Agency.

Some research by the writer would have been nice. Bettye celebrated 50 years in showbiz in 2012. Thankful & Thoughtful & her book came out the same year. In 2015 she released her CD Worthy, which is her 3rd nomination for a Grammy. Also, it was APAP week in NY and the show was a presentation by her booking agency, The Kurland Agency, of 4 artists on their roster.
