Bright Eyes frontman Conor Oberst has released a third video off of his recently-released Nonesuch Records debut, Upside Down Mountain. After its May release, the album has already been hailed by critics as a creative achievement for Oberst. His seemingly-endless imagaination brings a futuristic world to light in the video for “Common Knowledge,” a companion video to “Ziggzagging Toward the Light,” the first video off the album.
Both videos are shot completely in black & white, exposing a fictional, future version of Oberst reflecting on a past life, guided by questions from a faceless, robotic female voice. In “Common Knowledge,” he is shown cutting his own hair, drinking, smoking, and gazing high over New York City. There is an obvious cohesiveness to both videos, but also a mysterious back story.
Oberst has also announced the release of two previously unheard songs to be releases Black Friday Record Store Day on November 28th. “Standing on the Outside” and “Sugar Street” were both recorded during the Upside Down Mountains sessions. On September 14th, Oberst kicks off his US tour with Jonathan Wilson in Salt Lake City.
