Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Gregg Allman will receive the Living Legend award at the Classic Rock Roll Of Honour ceremony later this year. The tenth annual event by Britain’s Classic Rock magazine will be hosted by Sammy Hagar and will take place November 4th at the Avalon in Hollywood (the event’s first location outside London). Previous Living Legend award recipients include Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Iggy Pop, ZZ Top and Black Sabbath.
Gregg Allman and the Allman Brothers Band have been preparing for their final shows at the Beacon Theatre next month, having recently played their last festival show at Lockn’, where the band performed At Fillmore East, their classic 1971 live album, in its entirety.
With a distinguished, soulful voice and an unmatched ability for songwriting, Gregg Allman has spanned a defining musical career of nearly half a century. Allman said, “I am so very honored to be receiving this award from Classic Rock. The magazine is one of my favorites and they are always so generous to me and the Brothers.”
