Gandalf Murphy & the Slambovian Circus of Dreams – The Grand SlamboviansThough the rousing and uplifting “The Trans-Slambovian Bi-Polar Express” kicks things off, The Grand Slambovians takes a while to gather steam and find its emotional core. But when it does, this album sets sail upon a rootsy, psychedelic and spiritual journey.

Several of these songs rival any in their rich, intensely original and defiantly quirky canon. There are many Slambovian variations on musical history and the human heart: “Lost Highway,” the elegiac “The Invisible,” the deep blue, stark stomp of the reverberating title track, the impish pop of “Who Is This Girl?” and their homage to the quiet Beatle, “Ravenous Ways.” All, even on first listen, become vivid watermarks of why these New York/Hudson Valley-based myth-makers are loved and cheered around the world.
