Hall is known far and wide as the consummate storyteller/songwriter in country music. He received his first guitar at eight and his early interest in music, despite multiple hardships, ultimately led to his discovery by Nashville. He released many albums and singles, including “Harper Valley PTA” and “The Year That Clayton Delaney Died,” during his stellar career.
This album is a remake of Songs of Fox Hollow, Hall’s l974 album of children’s songs, with multiple guest artists performing some of their favorite Hall compositions. Popular vocalist Patty Griffin sings “I Love” while the versatile Jim Lauderdale handles “I Like To Feel Pretty Inside.” Elizabeth Cook chose to do “I Wish I Had A Million Friends” and Bobby Bare selected “I Care.” Legendary musician Buddy Miller sings “Sneaky Snake” while Duane Eddy provides his famous guitar playing. Iconic harmony singer Fayssoux Starling McLean, joined by Hall himself, performs the one new song here, “I Made A Friend Of A Flower Today,” the beautiful final song on this remarkable album.
