Pack your camping gear and a bushel of munchies for Bonnaroo. The Manchester, Tennessee, festival announced its 2012 lineup yesterday, and with headlining slots filled by Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, longtime festival jammers Phish, and the recently reunited Beach Boys, it’s one of the most rock-heavy lineups in years.
Also filling out this year’s massive bill is Alice Cooper, The Avett Brothers, Dawes, Flogging Molly, The Roots, Feist, The Alabama Shakes, Gary Clark Jr., Mogwai and too many more to list without drooling all over the keyboard. Bon Iver (neé Boney Bear), The Civil Wars, and beat-laying wunderkind Skrillex will serve as this year’s Grammy-Newbie Club, and no doubt lay musical witness to their accolades. Foster The People, who joined Maroon 5 and the Beach Boys for a puzzling collaboration at Sunday’s Grammy ceremony (did you miss Elmore‘s live tweets?), will also be performing. “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” if they left the “Good Vibrations” to the pros this time?
Bonnaroo is June 7-10, 2012, and tickets go on sale this Saturday (February 18). The full lineup is available on Bonnaroo’s website, but why read it when you could watch it whiz past your eyes as a colorful cartoon, while SportsCenter anchor John Anderson wails on the keytar for some inexplicable reason?
