At John Varvatos, people lined up to buy Ronnie Wood and Kenny Jones’ magnificent book, Faces, a beautifully-constructed limited edition containing photos and commentary about the band.

 

Behind Wood’s and Jones’ chair, May Pang and Eagle Rock’s Mike Carden reminisced about John Lennon. Pang recalled when Phil Spector briefly produced Lennon.  Lennon was always on time, but Spector ran on his own time, arriving in the studio hours late. Lennon wasn’t happy and said so. Spector, now unhappy too, picked a tiff with an engineer and, in pulling his gun–yes, his gun–out of his pants, it went off, into the ceiling. Everyone hit the floor. Lennon, getting up, held his ears and pointed at Spector: “If you’re going to shoot me, shoot me, but don’t fuck with me hearing!”
