Starting with his 1957 hit, “Butterfly,” Charlie Gracie is a man that still has ’50s rock ‘n’ roll roots. He was also the man that helped establish the Philly label Cameo-Parkway with hits like “Ninety Nine Ways,” ”Wandering Eyes,” “I Love You So Much It Hurts” and “ Cool Baby.” Now, Charlie is back with a new album on ABKCO Records, For the Love of Charlie.
Live at the Bitter End, Charlie gave us all his roots, in the fashion of all the classic ’50s stars like Eddie Cochran, Gene Vincent and Bill Haley. Charlie was backed up by the Richie Scarlet band and they did a great job. The set included “Rock ‘N’ Roll Heaven,” “Tootsie”, “Cool Baby,” ”Butterfly,” “Baby Doll,” “You Got a Heart Like a Rock,” ”Guitar Boogie,” ”Shake Rattle and Roll” and more high energy rock ‘n’ roll. Charlie brought you back to the days of The Brooklyn Paramount with this great set.
Charlie Gracie has not lost a step; he is a must see. He has done his part in Saving American Music.
