The Austin City Limits Festival in Austin, Texas usually comes at the tail end of the summer, but it always manages to draw some of the biggest names in music into Texas. This year is no exception: headlining the festival this year are alt-rock workhorses Red Hot Chili Peppers, the legendary Neil Young & Crazy Horse, and The Black Keys, rock ‘n’ roll’s latest arena-busting act. Also featured on the 3-day festival bill are Jack White, The Avett Brothers, Weezer, The Shins, M. Ward, Esperanza Spalding, Steve Earle, The Alabama Shakes, and the Old 97s. Contrary to reports coming out of Austin this morning, Grammy-winning singer/songwriter Bon Iver will not be performing at the festival.
The festival is also a great place to check out newer, less exposed artists. Among the many great acts featured on the lower bill this year are Brooklyn rock quartet Oberhofer, progressive bluegrass quintet Trampled By Turtles, and indie-pop duo Tennis.
The festival will take place from October 12-14 in Zilker Park in Austin. 3-day passes for the festival are sold out, but tickets for individual days are still available on the Austin City Limits website. The full lineup for the festival can be viewed here.
