Band of Horses are back after announcing the release date for their 4th studio album and tour to follow. The Seattle natives will be releasing Mirage Rock, their follow up to 2010’s Grammy-nominated Infinite Arms, on September 18, but if you pre-order the album exclusively today on iTunes, fans will receive the pre-order-only track “Ego Nightmare” and the first single off of the album, “Knock Knock”.
Mirage Rock is the first Band of Horses album to be produced by Glyn Johns, a recent inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for his work with Bob Dylan, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Who, Led Zeppelin, and many others. If this album is anything like the work that Johns has put into those timeless bands, then this effort will have the rock group wearing a crown to the animal kingdom in no time. Mirage Rock was recorded at Sunset Sound in Los Angeles and is arguably the Band of Horses’ most cohesive and accomplished set of compositions and performances to date.
Band of Horses will spend the summer lead-up to Mirage Rock‘s release as special guests of My Morning Jacket, road-testing tracks from the forthcoming album alongside favorites from Everything All The Time, Cease To Begin and Infinite Arms. The tour dates are as follows:
