Amidst all the headlines and heartbreaks, British actor Robert Pattinson is set to star in a biopic about the legendary rock band, the Band. Nothing has been confirmed about which member he’ll play but judging by his “star” role, I’m sure Robbie Robertson will have Pattinson playing himself. The Band has an incredible history and they’re often cited as a main influence for many bands today, which position this movie to be as enticing as their 1978 farewell concert documentary, The Last Waltz, directed by Martin Scorsese.
“I’m going to do a movie about The Band, the one that played with [Bob] Dylan,” Pattinson said in an interview with a French music website. “[It’s] a beautiful script about the nature of songwriting.”
The Twilight star’s acting ability paired with a movie about one of the most important bands in the last century, should provide a very interesting insight about the world of songwriting. The Band have timeless hits, such as: “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down”, “The Weight”, “Up On Cripple Creek”, “Stage Fright”, “Across the Great Divide”, “King Harvest (Has Surely Come)” and many more. As soon as all the dust from love affairs clear in Pattinson’s personal life, we look forward to hearing more about the production of the film about the 4 rock legends from Canada and the sweetest voice and backbeat south of the Mason-Dixon Line.
