The textured sounds of Dark Dark Dark and the haunting voice of Nona Marie Invie are enough to keep you up at night. But Dark Dark Dark’s sound isn’t as depressing or scary as you might think; there’s a mystery in the melancholia, and there’s always a bit of hope and wonder to lighten up whatever darkness you might have fallen into. Focusing on eclectic instrumentals, Dark Dark Dark unleashes a mix of jazz, folk, Americana and pop with a unique sense of musicality. The indie chamber-folk band is releasing a new album, Who Needs Who, next month. The band will be embarking on its U.S. tour starting September 27th. They’ll be stopping at New York for shows at the Knitting Factory on October 12th and at Le Poisson Rouge on October 13th. If you can’t wait until then, you can stream the record in its entirety via Stereogum until October 5th. Who Needs Who comes out October 2nd.
