They’re the guys who did that one song that was in Clueless, but we promise they have better credits to their name than the movie that launched a thousand hair flips.
The Smoking Popes’ 1994 album Born To Quit birthed the hit “Need You Around” and won praise from Spin, Alternative Press, Rolling Stone, and Billboard. Not to mention Morrissey, who called the album “the most lovable thing I’d heard in years.”
Now the Smoking Popes are back with what originally spiked them into popular acclaim. The band is reissuing their breakthrough album with SideOneDummy Records. The re-mastered album comes with its share of goodies, including new artwork, notes from Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba and comedian Kyle Kinane, a track-by-track analysis by frontman Josh Caterer and two bonus tracks. The Smoking Pipes will be setting off on their national tour this summer to promote the album. Born To Quit is set for release on October 23rd.
