There are strange bedfellows, and then there are…well, we don’t actually know what this is. But it is pretty damn strange. Last year, two unlikely worlds collided when old-school show-tuner and jazz crooner Tony Bennett collaborated with the “Born This Way” singer herself, pop queen Lady Gaga. The 86-year-old joined up with the blue-haired, whiskey-downing 26-year-old in the video for their cover of Roger and Hart’s “The Lady is a Tramp” for Bennett’s Duets II LP. The weirdness doesn’t end there. The two will come together again for an entire album. “Of all things, she called me from New Zealand and said, ‘I want to do a jazz album with you,’” said Bennett. Bennett, who described Gaga as “a phenomenal jazz singer” and even “the musical Picasso,” seems thrilled at the opportunity. We’re still pretty baffled, but hey…it should be interesting.
