You might have already heard of Tim and Jeff Buckley being brought to the big screen for Greetings from Tim Buckley. But now Jeff Buckley is meeting Shakespeare for a new musical called The Last Goodbye. Titled after one of the late singer’s popular songs, The Last Goodbye will be a modern day Romeo and Juliet set to Buckley’s music. That’s right–this definitely isn’t your high school English class version of Shakespeare. The musical includes Buckley songs such as “Lover, You Should Have Come Over,” “Eternal Life” and Buckley’s famous cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah.” Show creator, Michael Kimmel, debuted a version of the show two years ago at a Massachusetts theater festival. Two-time Tony Award nominee Alex Timbers will be directing. The Last Goodbye is set to begin rehearsals on January 27th, 2013.
