Folk duo The Civil Wars have cancelled their upcoming European tour, any upcoming tours, and possibly the band itself. The cancellations were announced via a post on the band’s Facebook page:
“We sincerely apologize for the canceling of all of our tour dates. It is something we deeply regret. However, due to internal discord and irreconcilable differences of ambition we are unable to continue as a touring entity at this time. We thank each and every one of you for your amazing love & support. Our sincere hope is to have new music for you in 2013.”
One can only speculate what “internal discord and irreconcilable differences” actually means in this context, but this is a disappointing development nonetheless. The Civil Wars’ first album Barton Hollow was a favorite both of Elmore writers; our writer Kathryn Yao gave it a glowing review in our May/June issue. It’d be a shame if such a promising young act would quit so early in their career.
