The Rolling Stones just put out a new hits compilation, GRRR!, which comes with two new singles for Stones fans eager to hear the band’s latest songs since 2005’s A Bigger Bang. The first single, “Doom And Gloom,” continues Mick Jagger’s recent lyrical obsession with current events (as you can tell from the title, he doesn’t think things are going well for the world.) However, the song also veers into more surreal territory in which Jagger talks about zombies and stuff.
The video for “Doom And Gloom” premieres today, and it seems as if the director took Jagger’s words literally. In it, Noomi Rapace (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo) lives through a hallucination in which she kills zombies, crashes planes, thrashes around in garbage naked (needles to say, the video is not safe for work viewing), and takes the place of Jagger and Charlie Watts in the band, among other things. It’s all very interesting to say the least.
GRRR! is out now. The Stones will be in New York for their 50th anniversary tour in December.
