They won’t have the Rolling Stones, but this year’s Coachella lineup is still stacked. After months of speculation and a few Photoshopped posters, the festival’s organizers announced the 2013 lineup at midnight on January 25th. Topping the bill are the one-two Britpop punch of Blur and the recently reunited Stone Roses, French rockers Phoenix, and alt-rock mainstays The Red Hot Chili Peppers.
The undercard is fairly impressive, too, with respected elder statesmen like Nick Cave and Lou Reed playing alongside indie-rock favorites like Grizzly Bear, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Modest Mouse, as well as up-and-comers like The Lumineers, JEFF The Brotherhood, and Kurt Vile. As with last year, the festival will take place on two consecutive weekends, the first being April 12th-14th, and the second on April 19th-21st. Unlike last year, no holograms are expected to make an appearance. However, if Johnny Marr is REALLY desperate for a Smiths reunion, there is that option.
