What are you doing in late April and early May? If you’re playing music, odds are you’ll be in New Orleans for the New Orleans Jazz Fest. The annual event has grown in recent years, and this year, it’s going to be huge. Really huge.
The festival has expanded its focus from strictly jazz to other areas of the musical sphere. This year’s fest will be headlined by jam-friendly acts like Dave Matthews Band and Gary Clark, Jr. alongside pop stars John Mayer, Hall & Oates and Billy Joel and more traditionally N’awlins acts like Dr. John, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band and Allen Touisant. Along with more indie leaning acts (The Black Keys, Band of Horses) and groups more on the classic rock spectrum of things (Fleetwood Mac, Patti Smith), and you have quite a well-rounded festival lineup.
You can check out the full lineup here via Best of New Orleans. If you plan on going, make your itineraries now; I can’t stress how massive and awesome this lineup is.
