If you know Jack White’s music, you know that the man is no stranger to the sounds of the blues. So it should come as no surprise that White’s Third Man Records will be launching a series of archival blues recordings with three album releases at the end of this month. Third Man is teaming up with Document Records to reissue the works of Charley Patton, Blind Willie McTell and the Mississippi Sheiks. Third Man Records describes the reissue recordings as “the building blocks and DNA of American culture. Blues, R&B, Elvis, teenagerism, punk rock…it all goes back to these vital, breathtaking recordings.” This will be the first time in decades that these albums will be available on vinyl. The first 400 customers who buy Volume 1 of The Complete Recorded Works in Chronological Order with Patton, McTell and the Mississippi Sheiks will receive artwork from Rob Jones. Look out for more from Third Man and Document Records, because further volumes will follow this one. The first volume of the Complete Recorded Works will be released on January 29th. Pre-orders are available now on Third Man Records’ website.
