A report in SPIN indicates that pysch-rocker Ty Segall has already released his first new material of 2013 under the band name Fuzz. The single, which Segall recorded with his guitarist Charlie Mootheart, was released on the Chicago-based Trouble In Mind label.
A blurb on Trouble In Mind’s website does an amusing job of not acknowledging Segall’s participation in Fuzz: “We received an unsolicited e-mail from these guys & despite our best efforts, cannot discern who is responsible for these jams.”
Typical to Segall’s style, “This Time I Got A Reason” and “Fuzz’s Fourth Dream” are loud, rockin’ and quite fuzzy. It’s a good start to what will likely be a prolific year for Segall, who has two re-issues coming out on January 22nd.
Fuzz will make their live debut at Burger Records’ Burgerama II concert in Orange County, CA on March 22nd-23rd. The band’s single is currently sold out on vinyl, but you can stream the A-side here.
