Green Day must love the big screen—and it obviously loves them back. The band’s new documentary, Broadway Idiot, will be making its premiere at this year’s South By Southwest festival. The film pulls back the stage curtains and gives audiences a look into the band’s move to Broadway with American Idiot. If you haven’t seen it, the show takes the music from 2004’s American Idiot album and adds a narrative and characters to create a punk-rock storytelling experience with a Green Day flair. This American Idiot documentary will be one of two Green Day films set to screen at SXSW. The other will be the band’s other documentary, ¡Cuatro!, which premiered at this year’s Winter X-Games. ¡Cuatro! looks into the band’s writing and recording process as they created their recent album trilogy, ¡Uno!, ¡Dos! and ¡Tré!. If that’s not enough Green Day for you, not need to fret; next month, the band kicks off their U.S. tour in Chicago. They’ll be heading to Brooklyn’s Barclays Center in early April. If you’re at SXSW this year (seriously—you’ve got your tickets, right?), don’t forget to check out ¡Cuatro! and Broadway Idiot. The South By Southwest Film Conference and Festival runs from March 8th to 16th in Austin, Texas.
