Bonnaroo took an unconventional (and for some, frustrating) method towards announcing their lineup, forgoing the lineup poster in favor of a Weird Al Yankovic-hosted variety show/telethon with special guests and a toll-free number that revealed confirmed bands one by one to each caller. After a few hours and some bizarre sketches (at one point, comedian Chris Gethard bobbed for meat at the request of two callers), we have a full lineup, and it’s a big one.
This year, Paul McCartney, Mumford & Sons, and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers headline what has turned out to be an unbelievably stacked lineup. Among the excellent bands playing at the festival are Wilco, The National, The Lumineers, David Byrne & St. Vincent, Passion Pit, Grizzly Bear, Beach House, Cat Power, Gov’t Mule, Sam Bush & Del McCoury, Dwight Yoakam, Dirty Projectors, Trombone Shorty, Two Gallants, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, The Tallest Man On Earth, DIIV, Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti, and Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit. And that’s not even half of the lineup.
You can read the whole Bonnaroo lineup here. Tickets for this year’s festival go on sale on Friday, February 22.
