Two big parts of music history have passed in the last couple of days. The Temptations were one of the great acts that defined the ever-popular “Motown Sound.” Another one of the Temptations, vocalist Richard Street, has passed. Street died yesterday in a Las Vegas hospital. Fellow Temptation Otis “Damon” Harris (1971-1975) also passed just last week.
Street performed with the group from 1971 to 1993. Harris and Street both sang on the classic Temptations hit, 1971’s “Papa Was a Rollin’ Stone.”
“He was really fighting for his life,” Street’s widow told CNN. “He’s a fighter. They’re dancing up there in heaven, him and Damon.”
Street passed from a pulmonary embolism. He was 70 years old.
