We here at Elmore have been big fans of the Pennsylvania Blues Festival since its inception. Every year, Pennsylvania gets a healthy dose of blues, soul, and good old-fashioned American roots music. It’s the sort of event that you don’t see very often anymore, what with most music festivals getting larger and larger and becoming more about finding an excuse to do drugs in a public place than about hearing and discovering great music. In this environment, festivals like Pennsylvania become something special.
This year, the organizers of Pennsylvania Blues Fest have outdone themselves. The lineup features a gathering of the best names in modern blues, including the inimitable Bobby Rush (who will be interviewed in the upcoming March/April issue of Elmore) and the live powerhouse that is Robert Randolph & The Family Band. Randolph’s new slide guitar proteges The Slide Brothers will also be there, as will perennial Elmore favorites The Alexis P. Suter Band.
