Wilco’s Solid Sound Festival is one of the more eclectic stops on the summer festival road. The band organize and hand-pick the lineup themselves, so each festival ends up being a representation of the band’s appreciation of music. The lineup for this year’s festival, which was announced yesterday, is no different.
As expected, Wilco themselves will be headlining the festival (band members Nels Cline, Mikael Jorgensen, and John Stirratt will also be playing the festival individually, as will frontman Jeff Tweedy’s son, Spencer). Joining them will be indie rock stalwarts Yo La Tengo, Low, and White Denim, along with alt-country siren Neko Case and the searing jazz-folk trio Medeski, Martin & Wood. A comedy stage curated by John Hodgman and featuring Al Madrigal (The Daily Show With Jon Stewart) and Reggie Watts (Comedy Bang! Bang!) will also be a part of the festivities.
Solid Sound will also feature some interesting events, like Yo La Tengo performing as a live soundtrack for a screening of the film The Love Song Of R. Buckminster Fuller as well as discussions about beekeeping and micro-brewing. All worthy endeavors, if you ask us.
The Solid Sound Festival takes place on June 21-23 in North Adams, Massachusetts. Watch a video trailer for the festival below:
