It’s not enough for Dave Grohl to make a hit documentary. He has to create a supergroup of musicians from that documentary. But hey, we’re not complaining. We’re just amazed that the guy still hasn’t taken any time to rest from that busy schedule of his. But it’s still full steam ahead for Grohl, who’s hitting NYC this week with his Sound City Players. The lineup includes Stevie Nicks, John Fogerty, Cheap Trick’s Rick Nielsen, Rage Against the Machine’s Brad Wilk, Rick Springfield, all of the Foo Fighters and Nirvana’s Krist Novoselic, among others. It’s going to be a busy week for the group, which is performing at the Hammerstein Ballroom on Wednesday and following that with a performance on The Late Show with David Letterman on Thursday night. Grohl will also be chatting up Stephen Colbert on The Colbert Report on Wednesday. This Hammerstein Ballroom show will be a one-off NYC show, so you’d better catch the Players while you can. But that doesn’t mean that this will be the last show for the group. Grohl says that he plans on booking concerts for the group all over the world in the upcoming months. You can see the Sound City Players at the Hammerstein Ballroom on February 13. You can also see the documentary that incited the union on the film’s website. The Sound City soundtrack will be released on March 12.
