Neutral Milk Hotel’s Jeff Mangum has slowly taken steps out of hiding and back into the spotlight after his last album, In The Aeroplane Over The Sea, went from obscure underground record to beloved cult classic. Since 2009, Mangum’s been touring the world by himself, playing acoustic versions of his Neutral Milk Hotel songs to adoring fans in shows that almost mirror a religious service. Similarly, the venues have only gotten bigger for Mangum; the man has gone from playing in people’s apartments to headlining BAM and now the Bardavon Opera House.
This show will be a special one for Mangum, as the money from ticket sales will go towards a good cause: Children of the Blue Sky, an organization that is attempting to create better lives for impoverished children. What better way to be charitable than to hear an indie rock legend play several of his most lasting tunes?
