Peter Wolf, hilariously known as “the Wolfa Goofa” and “the Wolfa Goofa with the Green Teeth” and “Woofa Goofa Mama Toofa,” started out as an artist, but just couldn’t stay away from the blues. He started exploring his interest in R&B and blues while he was a DJ on a Boston radio station. He formed a group called the Hallucinations, which played with acts like Muddy Water, Junior Wells, Howlin’ Wolf, the Velvet Underground and others. Later on, he joined the J. Geils Band, a R&B-influenced blues-rock band including John Geils, Danny “Dr. Funk” Klein, Richard “Magic Dick” Salwitz, Stephen Jo Bladd and Seth Justman. The band gained popularity with hits such as “Centerfold,” “First I look at the Purse” and “Must of Got Lost.” Wolf also had a successful solo career that produced popular albums such as Lights Out. So whether it’s as part of the J. Geils Band or on his own, Peter Wolf is one act to see. You can see Peter Wolf at the City Winery on February 23 and 24.
