Pop has returned. Iggy Pop, that is. Iggy and the Stooges hit the ‘60s and ‘70s with their heavy-hitting punk rock. But as the ‘70s wound down to a close, the band members went their separate ways. They later reunited and released an album of new material, The Weirdness, which received mixed reviews. The band took another big hit when bassist Ron Asheton passed away in 2009. The next year, the Stooges were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and they’ve been pretty quiet ever since. But it looks like they were just gearing up for their next project, the upcoming Ready to Die. Due for release on April 30 through Fat Possum, Ready to Die is being marketed as the band’s follow-up to 1973’s Raw Power. Original band members Pop, guitarist James Williamson and drummer Scott Asheton will be on the album. Matt Watt will take over for Ron Asheton. The band has released “Burn,” the first single off of the new album. You can listen to “Burn” below.
