We’re still a month away from finding out the full lineup for Chicago’s Lollapalooza festival, but the rumor mill has already started, and a few of the festival’s headliners may have already been confirmed. The Chicago Tribune is reporting that Mumford & Sons, Phoenix, Vampire Weekend, and The Killers have all been picked to headline the three-day festival in August. The report also claims that The National and The Postal Service (the million-selling side project of Death Cab For Cutie singer Ben Gibbard) will also be playing the festival.
These are obviously just rumors cited from unnamed “industry sources,” but it makes sense. Mumford & Sons, Phoenix and Vampire Weekend are playing almost every other festival this year, and The Killers draw the kind of crowd that the Lollapalooza organizers want. It remains to be seen if another really high-profile band will be pulled into the fold (Black Sabbath played last year, for example). We’ll just have to find out come April.
