The Glastonbury Festival in the United Kingdom is arguably the biggest festival in the world, and they’ve picked the biggest rock band in the world as a headliner. After almost a year of rumors, the Rolling Stones have been confirmed to play Glastonbury alongside Mumford & Sons and The Arctic Monkeys.
The announcement comes after constant rumors about the band’s summer festival plans. Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood had told reporters that he was hoping to convince Mick Jagger and Keith Richards to play Glastonbury after they turned down offers to play Coachella, but Mick and Keith remained silent on the subject until today.
As usual, the lineup for Glastonbury is absolutely staggering, featuring Phoenix, Alabama Shakes, The Lumineers, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Elvis Costello, Steve Winwood, Lucinda Williams, Glen Hansard, Gary Clark Jr., Dinosaur Jr., and Rodriguez, among many, many others.
