This May, Memphis will be the place to be. The city will host its annual Beale Street Music Festival. This year, the bill for the event will include such acts as the Black Keys, Phoenix, the Flaming Lips, Gary Clark Jr., Deer Tick, Alice in Chains, Patti Smith, Daryl Hall & John Oates, ZZ Top, Sheryl Crow, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, the Slide Brothers, Jimbo Mathus & the Tri-State Coalition, Royal Southern Brotherhood and plenty of others.
The three-day festival is not the only reason to buy those plane tickets now; the festival is part of a larger month-long tourist event called “Memphis in May International Festival.” After the festival, you can get your fill of some good old Southern cooking with the World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest. And believe us—after those three days of amazing music, you’re going to be hungry. The Beale Street Music Festival will take place at Memphis Tom Lee Park from May 3-5. For the full lineup and more information on the festival, check out the “Memphis in May” website.
