Amazon has got something new for vinyl lovers. The company’s AutoRip service provides customers with digital versions of their music after they purchase the physical album. Now, the service will include thousands of vinyl records. So customers who purchase vinyl records with the AutoRip logo will also receive a digital copy that will be available to download and will be added to the customer’s Cloud Player library. And if you’ve already been buying vinyl off of Amazon for years, don’t worry; Vinyl AutoRip will be retroactively applied to any qualifying vinyl purchased via the website since 1998.
“We’re thrilled to extend this experience to vinyl records,” said Steve Bloom, Amazon’s vice president of digital music, in a statement. “Many of our music customers are vinyl fans, and it’s traditionally been very difficult to make digital version of vinyl records. Now customers can enjoy the albums they buy wherever they are, not just when they have access to a record player.”
