Today, Fleetwood Mac released the new songs that they had promised earlier in the year as Extended Play, a four-song EP currently available on iTunes. The EP marks the first collection of new material from the band since their 2003 album Say You Will, and it’s the first collection of new material to come out after a series of attempts to record a new album.
Three of the four new songs are originals by guitarist Lindsey Buckingham, including “Sad Angel,” which the band previewed while playing in Philadelphia earlier this year. The fourth song on the EP, “Without You,” was penned by Stevie Nicks and based on a song she wrote while working with Buckingham on Buckingham Nicks.
Currently, Fleetwood Mac are touring behind the 35th Anniversary re-release of their classic album Rumours. While Nicks has mentioned the band’s desire to continue making new material, there are no concrete plans by the band to release anything more aside from Extended Play this year.
