Indie rockers Vampire Weekend gave New York a bit of an Easter surprise when they appeared at the city’s Easter parade colorfully dressed and accompanied by a megaphone-toting Steve Buscemi. It was all as random and surreal as it sounds, but the band’s association with the actor is starting to make a little more sense: Buscemi will be directing a live webcast of the band’s performance at New York’s Roseland Ballroom on April 28th.
The Buscemi-helmed concert film will be the latest in the American Express Unstaged series, which pairs bands with directors for unique broadcasts of live shows via Youtube. Previous pairings include The Arcade Fire with Terry Gilliam, Jack White with Gary Oldman, and My Morning Jacket with Todd Haynes.
Vampire Weekend’s new album, Modern Vampires Of The City, comes out on May 14th. You can watch of video of the band with Buscemi at the New York Easter parade below:
