We get it, Queens of the Stone Age. Your new album is super cool and super mysterious and you’re just going to keep teasing us until it’s released. We’re pretty sure the guys are having plenty of fun with this.
In the wee hours of the morning, the band shared a paltry 30 seconds of music from its upcoming album. The video teaser for “I Appear Missing” off of …Like Clockwork aired on Adult Swim.
Fortunately, the band didn’t just leave it at that. QOTSA released the full video this afternoon. According to Matador Records, the three-minute video is only a portion of a longer album track. Grisly, macabre and more than a little creepy, the video depicts a bloodied, bandaged and seemingly zombiefied man floating through a familiarly QOTSA-esque desert landscape. Homme’s vocals and lyrics are appropriately somber (“It’s only falling in love because you hit the ground”), and as the video reaches its very depressing and very violent end, the music similarly descends into dark, building dissonance that’s both viscerally unsettling and yet aurally satisfying at the same time.
…Like Clockwork is due for release on June 4 via Matador Records. You can watch the video for “I Appear Missing” below.
