Things have been looking up for singer/songwriter Sixto Rodriguez since the release of the Oscar-winning documentary Searching For Sugar Man. His shows are selling out in America, he’s already considering recording new material, and he has a new college degree from Wayne State University.
A report in the Associated Press states that the university awarded Rodriguez with an Honorary Doctorate in Humane Letters at their graduation ceremony this year. After quitting music, Rodriguez attended the school in his native Detroit, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in philosophy in 1981.
Currently, Rodriguez is at work on his third album, which will be his first collection of new music since 1971’s Coming From Reality.
