When his debut album No Time For Dreaming came out in 2011, Charles Bradley was a revelation. The former James Brown impersonator who had lived as hard as the Godfather of Soul had finally made an imprint of his own. Fortunately, Bradley wasn’t content to rest on his laurels, and his newest album, Victim Of Love, is an even better slice of vintage soul, branching out to more adventurous musical territory. He’ll be bringing that soul to the Apollo Theater, one of the world’s legendary stages, where James Brown himself made his name. Given time, we may be talking about Charles Bradley in the same terms.
