No one ever really expected to find hand-clapping, boot-stomping bluegrass music coming out of Brooklyn, but Spirit Family Reunion’s take on the genre will have you believing that they’re anything but city slickers. As one of the key groups in the folk and bluegrass revival coming out of New York, the group play vintage folk without making themselves into a museum piece. They’ve only gotten bigger since releasing their debut album last year, making the cover of the Deli Magazine’s Spring 2013 issue. They’ll be kicking off the Best Emerging Artists Festival at Brooklyn Bowl with like-minded compatriots The National Reserve and Last Gold Tooth.
