The SteelDrivers’ Hammer Down was one of 2012’s best albums. Elmore’s Jim Hynes lauded the band’s resilience in the wake of a couple of key departures from the band, saying that even without former singer Chris Stapleton, the SteelDrivers  are among the finest contemporary bluegrass bands around. Everyone from pop superstar Adele to bluegrass icon Tim O’Brien has sung the band’s praises. Currently, they’re in the middle of a tour that brings them to New York’s Highline Ballroom. It’s a big show, especially for such a relatively new band. However, we have a feeling that the SteelDrivers will be more than capable of bringing the house down.
