Rock star/Ambassador of Partying Andrew W.K. has done some really strange stuff before, but this may be his strangest accomplishment yet: as part of the O Music Awards, W.K. broke the Guinness World Record for the longest time spent playing the drums by drumming for 24 straight hours.
“WE DID IT!!! 24 HOURS OF DRUMMING!!!” he tweeted after accomplishing the feat on Thursday night. “Remember…I didn’t do it, WE did it. You were with me every beat. I feel very emotional and party.” Party, when used as a verb, is Andrew W.K.’s default emotional setting.
Throughout his record-breaking attempt, which took place in Times Square in New York City, W.K. was joined by a series of guest drummers, including Marky Ramone, Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nick Jonas, Zac Hanson, and Questlove of The Roots. W.K. called many of his fellow participants “some of the greatest drummers in the world, people I’ve admired for years and years.”
