The Rolling Stones’ “50 and Counting” tour has had a number of special guest performers ranging from John Mayer and Dave Grohlto the Arcade Fire and even Taylor Swift. This week, when the Stones head to Boston’s TD Garden, they’ll be bringing one of blues-rock’s biggest stars with them in Gary Clark Jr.
This won’t be the first time that Clark has played with the Stones: last year, Clark joined the band for a rendition of Freddie King’s “Going Down” at the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn and at the Prudential Center in New Jersey.
The Stones have been fairly open about their appreciation for Clark’s music. Clark first performed with Jagger at the White House’s Red, White, and Blues concert with Jeff Beck, B.B. King and Buddy Guy in 2012.
