The New York Times reports that the long-touring Janis Joplin musical An Evening With Janis Joplin has found a permanent home on Broadway. Previews are expected to start at the Lyceum Theatre on September 20th.
Written and directed by Randy Johnson, the musical debuted in 2011 at Portland Center Stage. Since then, the show has been performed in Washington D.C., Pasadena, Milwaukee, and Cleveland. Star Mary Bridget Davies has already won rave reviews for her portrayal of Joplin, and it is expected that she will star in the initial Broadway run.
